Meet Mercy Ships Surgeon Dr. Mark Shrime:

Dr. Mark Shrime is a graduate of Princeton and Southwestern Medical School.  He completed his surgical internship and residency in otolaryngology at the joint Columbia/Cornell program in New York City, followed by a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology at the University of Toronto.  After this fellowship he joined Mercy Ships in 2008 for five months of service in Liberia and returned to the University of Toronto for a second fellowship in microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck, which led to another six weeks of service in 2009 on the Mercy Ship, this time in Benin.

Dr. Shrime is currently working as an assistant professor of otolaryngology/head and neck surgery at the Boston University Medical Center and as a staff surgeon at the VA Medical Center in Boston.  Starting fall 2009, he will be pursuing a masters of public health with a focus in international health.
